WEEK 7

IDEALS CONTAINED IN NAEYC AND DEC CODE OF ETHICS THAT ARE MEANINGFUL AND SIGNIFICANT TO MY PROFESSINAL LIFE

-To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and Education and to stay informed through continuing education and training

This ideal is significant to my professional life because I believe that for one to be called a Professional in the early childhood field there is the need to understand what it is all about. To achieve this, is through continuing education and training. This will enable one to continue to grow and perform better in the field.I believe it is our responsibility as educators of young children to equip ourselves continuously with the required  and appropriate knowledge, if we are truly concern about their growth and development.

-We shall demonstrate our respect and concern for children, families, colleagues and others with whom we work, honoring their beliefs, values, customs, languages, and culture

Culture, language, beliefs, Values and customs play very important roles in the life of a child in relation to his family and his environment. These elements consciously and unconsciously affect the personality of the child. This personality reflects both at home, school and the society as a whole. I believe that if you to try respect and appreciate individual ways of lives, It would be a lot easier to work with them.

-To  work through education, research and advocacy toward  a society in which all young children have access to high –quality early care and education programs

To me, quality education and child care is important in the early years. These years form the foundation for the later years of an individual, so there is need for quality in laying those foundation. There is need to ensure professionalism through proper education, effective programs and childcare based on evidence-based research and consistent advocacy that aim at ensuring that programs, curriculum and facilities meet the required standard.
